International School Rimini and Dallara: When Innovation Enters the Classroom.

Updated: Jun 8

The first and only project in Italy that brings our MYP students into the world of engineering and motorsport.

Learning comes to life when students have the opportunity to engage with real-world challenges, applying their knowledge and skills in authentic contexts. It is with this spirit that the Middle Years Programme (MYP) students at International School Rimini have embarked on an exciting journey throughout the school year as part of the STEM Racing (F1 in Schools) project, developed in collaboration with Dallara, one of the world's leading companies in automotive engineering and motorsport innovation.

An ambitious project that has engaged students over several months, giving them the opportunity to experience first-hand the worlds of design, technological innovation, and teamwork.

From Concept to Creation: Students at the Heart of Innovation.

Throughout the project, students worked as real teams of engineers, designers, and project managers, tackling every stage involved in the development of a miniature racing car.

From digital design and aerodynamic analysis to model construction and the creation of a team identity, each student had the opportunity to contribute by applying creativity, problem-solving abilities, and technical skills.

The project is a perfect example of interdisciplinary learning, bringing together science, technology, mathematics, design, communication, and collaboration within a single educational experience with a strong and lasting impact.

A Learning Experience Alongside Dallara.

This week, MYP students will have the opportunity to visit Dallara’s headquarters, experiencing first-hand an immersive journey inside a company that is internationally recognised as a benchmark for innovation, research, and automotive engineering.

The visit will allow students to engage directly with the world of motorsport and observe how many of the concepts explored throughout the STEM Racing project are applied in a real-world, high-performance professional environment.

By discovering the design, development, and innovation processes that define Dallara’s work, students will gain a deeper understanding of the value of collaboration, design thinking, and the continuous pursuit of excellence.

This unique experience will make the learning journey even more meaningful, demonstrating how passion, knowledge, and teamwork can be transformed into real innovation.

The Mugello Final: The Culminating Moment of the Journey.

The project will reach its final and most exciting stage at the Mugello Circuit, where students will have the opportunity to compete alongside other teams and showcase the work they have carried out throughout the year.

It will be a valuable opportunity to test not only the prototypes they have developed, but also the skills they have built along the way: organisation, teamwork, time management, effective communication, and critical thinking.

These are values that fully reflect the educational philosophy of International School Rimini and the International Baccalaureate.

A Pioneering Project for Middle School Students.

International School Rimini is proud to be the first school in Italy to develop a project of this scale with middle school students, offering an experience that is typically reserved for older learners.

This initiative reflects the school’s commitment to providing innovative educational pathways that anticipate the skills required for the future, placing students at the centre of authentic, engaging, and meaningful learning experiences.

Through projects such as STEM Racing, students go beyond learning theoretical concepts; they learn to think like innovators, collaborators, and problem solvers, developing the competencies that will be essential throughout their academic and professional journeys.

Because the future of education also lies in the ability to transform passion into a meaningful opportunity for learning.
